dying seat belts
Anyone have some insight. Is it possible to take them out of the retractors?
Do you pull them all the way out and dunk what you can? Any help is appreciated. |

I attempted this last year with RIT dye. I pulled the belts out as far as I could and used vise grips to hold them out. They were originally blue and after following the directions on the dye box they turned out still blue. Ended up ordering new ones.

i dyed a set a long time ago but mine were just lap belts so i idnt have the retractor and just put them in a bucket of fabric dye for an hour or two
recommend just buying new ones, you can get them from LMC for like 30 bucks if i remeber correctly. they arent expensive at all

what color are you trying to go from - to? That would depend on how they turn out. the lighter they are now the better.

Realize a lot of them have high nylon contant with won't dye with conventional dye, you might be able to use something like SEM interior paint. Best bet is to not mess with your safety, just replace them.
