Trailer towing specs for a '67 GMC with a dealer installed bumper

Anyone know what the maximum tongue weight/trailer weight specs are for the standard dealer installed bumper?

Now thats funny!

If it is not stamped on there you need to make an educated guess. If you are towing a trailer heavy enough to raise the question buy a receiver hitch that mounts to the frame.

Remember the factory recommed equalizer hitches on truck/trailer GCW of 8500lb and up and suggested them down to a GCW of 6500lb.

The aftermarket numbers I can easily lay my hands on are a very conservative SAE Class 1 which at the time was 2000 /150. But I'd suspect that a SAE Class 2 is probably applicable to some of the heavier bumpers which would be 3500/250. Remember that most of the dealer installed bumpers were for profit margin not the best and heaviest. Look carefully at the construction, some are simply a series of tack welded plates and channels.
