Queen City Speed 67 Shop Truck build

I traded some labor for this truck about 3 years ago and have been slowly buying parts to build it. I figured we would thrash on it for a month or two and drive it to Goodguy Charlotte in October. Plans are a SBC/700r4 combo, 5/7 drop, and I can't make my mind up on wheels?????

Re: Queen City Speed 67 Shop Truck build

We blew the rear end apart and put the double throw down rebuild/detail job on it.

I know what wheels you need to run! Think 22in. steelies with 88-98 or Astro van caps!

Stitch welded up some trailing arms today. Now off to the blaster then to powdercoat.

That would look good, too. My tires are a bit over 27 inches tall, and my ride height is probably pretty close to a 5/7 static. I know a 255/70/15 BFG is like 29.5 inches tall. I bet a 225/70 on a 6.5 rim up front, and a 275/60 on an 8 on the back. The back tires would be about half an inch taller, and 2 inches wider. Would compliment the rake, and should still tuck.

I wish I had known when I was putting mine together that Astro caps fit, too. Lots more cool options.

I don't know drop specs or tire sizes, but might be close, and I can find out specs if needed.

Re: Queen City Speed 67 Shop Truck build

My friend Jeremy started painting some engine parts. Scored an old school Edelbrock SP2P intake. I'm gonna pull the pan, valve covers & timing cover to blast and paint. I got a QCS "Dairy Queen Special" camshaft to install too.

This must be the owner. I saw the truck in a post from a guy called "rustedmetal", and have PM'd with him before, but never got an answer after I asked for info on the specs.

PS, the more I think about it, the more I regret not asking for a ride in that El Camino when I was down there, lol

Thanks Russ. I'm excited about it. Jeremy & I have been trying to do a little bit on it everyday. I've still got a few things to buy but I think I can have it together in time.

Re: Queen City Speed 67 Shop Truck build

Dropped off some parts at the blaster yesterday. I forgot how great it is to have an almost 500hp parts chaser. My pro-touring project ELDOGG earns its keep around the shop lately.

Re: Queen City Speed 67 Shop Truck build

It was gonna be like an extra $75 bucks. That would buy more C-10 parts. Lol.

Yeah, I like that El Camino, you should post a side pic so everybody can see how slick it is.

Re: Queen City Speed 67 Shop Truck build

Project ELDOGG. Almost 500hp, 700r4 with all sorts of billet parts and upgrades, Big brakes(bigger ones in the works), everything in the Hotchkis catalog, and lots of stuff I can't remember. It wears a 20+ year old paint job. I have been building stuff with old/faded/patina paint before it was cool. I did the majority of the build almost 10 years ago but I keep refining it a little at a time. This old guy in town calls it a rolling speed shop. I always thought that was funny.lol.

Found some more pics. Here are some donor parts on the way home. 5 lug, power steering, booster & etc. The 4x4 is my wife's truck and the crew cab is Chris' from Chicken City Hotrods.

Re: Queen City Speed 67 Shop Truck build

I got my header situation sorted out. BIG thanks to everyone at Hedman Hedders. I was having a problem with my driver side header getting real close to the oil filter. With a few calls back and forth we figured out what the problem was and now everyone will get to reap the rewards. These new mid length c10 hedders (#69010) are gonna work even better on our trucks now.

Sorry for the wait....

I have the parts list of what was done to the suspension:

2 1/2 Classic Drop Spindles
Lowered front shocks 1-5"
Lowered Rear Shock 3-5"
Coil Springs 2" drop Front
Coil Springs 5" drop Rear
C-notched but I don't think that it really needed it.
Rides and feels great

The wheels are 22" steelies

That's the headers I have on my stepside. I have a thread on here somewhere of installed pics, I think I was one of the first to use them. Be sure you use jam nuts or something on those ball and socket collectors, mine kept coming loose.
