Rear Flip Kit Shock Question

When I do the axle flip kit on my 86... What is the purpose of the shock relocator kit? Do I actually need to use them or just the flip kit and call it good? Is it so that I can use stock shocks or is there a different purpose? Im confused and trying to figure out the best way to do this before I order parts?

Re: Rear Flip Kit Shock Question

No the shock extender is there to lower the mounting position of the shock so it sits as close to factory as possible.

If you don't use the extender or otherwise mod your shock arrangement. The shocks get to flat, and lose much of their ability to dampen bumps out.

Re: Rear Flip Kit Shock Question

Ok, that makes sense! Do I need to run a shorter shock or will stock work?

Re: Rear Flip Kit Shock Question

It depends on the final drop number, but I would use the stock shock to see how well it fits before I order anything.
