New guy with a 68 short bed

I'm new here and starting to work on a 68 C10 short bed. Plans are a 408" LS with a 4L60. Changing all the suspension and brakes to stuff from CPP. Don't have many plans other than that right now. I'm sure I will have lots of questions about these trucks as this is my first one so I'm looking forward to this project.

Sounds like a great start. Any pics of your trucks current state?

Welcome!
The only thing that give me concern here is the 4L60... if you are going run it hard I would strongly recommend the 4L80. Much stronger tranny.

A 4L60 is ok if you put in the 5 planet planetary sets and a beast cage. Basically making it a 4L70E.

Thanks, we are putting a 5 pinion planet in it to help make it a little more reliable.

Nice looking truck, could leave it "patina".

Re: New guy with a 68 short bed

I wasn't going to paint it at first but I changed my mind pretty quick on that. I had some rust spots I wanted to fix and one thing leads to another very quickly. I haven't decided what color I'm going with yet.

I vote for keeping the original paint, that truck has patina to die for.
