Newby- My first Questions
I'm disc braking (1.25 rotors) and using McGaughey 2 1/2" drop spindles, 5 lug on my 68 GMC SWB. Tires on it at stock height were 275-60-15 BFGs on 8" wide alloy wheels.
Does anybody Know or have personal experience here, Can I run 15 X 10 Corvette style 5 lug Rally Wheels (5" back space) with the Same 275-60-15 BFGS on All for corners without serious clearance issues? Rephrased; With the same size tires that clear NOW on all four with 8" wide rims at Stock ride height, can I switch to running NEW 10" wide steel rims and the same exact tires at a 2-1/2 front spindle drop and a 2" rear shackle drop? Thanks Guys

1st of all--- to the forums and from Ohio. I think the bolt hole for our trucks are 5x5 so the Corvettes wheels will not work. I will let other chime in.

Re: Newby- My first Questions
Welcome from Texas.
Where are you in Prescott? My daughter goes to Embry Riddle. We are there two or three times a year. It sure is beautiful out there. Maybe we can meet up next time I'm out there. 2x on the Vette wheels.

Re: Newby- My first Questions
Corvette's are 4.75" bolt pattern and your truck would be 5". I can't say about clearance but fit is out. They do sell 5x5 corvette style wheels.

Re: Newby- My first Questions
I think he's talking about the corvette style rallies that they make for trucks. I think 10" will work on the back, but not the front.

Re: Newby- My first Questions
10" front would require major backspacing (6.5" or so) or some kind of narrowing on the frame. I wouldn't attempt it

Re: Newby- My first Questions
Thanks for the Welcome here,
A little rehash, I have McGauheys 2-1/2 drop spindles, but for a 1974 Chevy C10 Lug pattern is 5 on 4.75, (later I'm changing my rear axles to the same 5 on 4.75 I have a complete 74, 10 bolt rear end.) Right Now, I've installed new upper and lower ball joints (74 they fit the 68 control arms and New drop spindles fine. I have new 74 tie-rods and adjuster collars. The only hurdle now seems to be the 68 drag links' inner tie rod holes are for the smaller tie rods (reemer maybe?) Also my wheels are after market "Corvette Style" Vintiques from Summit they are dual lug pattern 15 X 10 with 5" back spacing, Rear tire & wheel combo is no problem. Again down to splitting hairs, my truck already had the 275=60-15 all around with no clearance problems BUT non 15 X 8" wheels. NOW me Not being a wheel genius here but my thinking was that if the tire cleared before and if the back spacing is the same, I'm only gaining 1" outboard and 1"inboard of the backspace center line Right? Thanks guys for your help, I may be out in the Ozone with the direction I've started but I think I can make everything work. PLAN "B" is get 15 X 8 and maybe smaller tires too for the front only.
