Battery Tray Bracket - Jack Hardware?

Does anyone know the function of this bracket on the battery tray for my 83 C20? I assume that is has something to do with the jack which is supposed to mount nearby. I am planning on installing the factory jack on the inner fender, so any pics of how this attaches would be appreciated. I am not sure that the picture shows the proper location for this bracket (with two captive nuts) or if it just ended up there by chance. Pics on the whole jack installation for an 83 would be helpful also. Thanks.

Re: Battery Tray Bracket - Jack Hardware?

Looks like that's just fender mounting of the tray. I've never seen that myself

Re: Battery Tray Bracket - Jack Hardware?

It is not needed to secure the battery tray. I found two holes under the tray which line up with the holes in that bracket, but it the bracket is lined up with those holes then I see no purpose for it with regard to securing the jack. In any case, it looks like an OEM item. Keith: why did you use this bracket?
