Thumbs down Done with Rock Auto...

I ordered wheel bearings, rotors, and pads from Rock Auto- using their search engine to find the right parts. First thing I found when installing the parts were the bearings weren't the right size, way to small..... next I just got the whole front end buttoned up, went to install the wheels and the thread pitch on one of the rotors is wrong!!! And to top it off- Rock Auto wants me to foot the bill to ship them back the wrong parts!!!

Okay rant over....

Re: Done with Rock Auto...

Best advice, find a local mom and pop auto parts store. We go over and above to make sure your happy, because we don't have some one else footing the bill for us.

Good luck

Re: Done with Rock Auto...

Some places don't have mom n pop operations anymore. I can only think of one in driving distance from me, and they are horrible at everything. I refuse to patronize them. Every other parts store is a chain (Advance, Auto Zone, Pep Boys, Napa). Of those, Napa is probably the best.

On the flip side, Rock Auto hasn't done a single thing wrong for me yet, and I've probably bought over $2000 there in the last 6 months.

Re: Done with Rock Auto...

I've spent a couple grand at rockauto. Nothing has been wrong yet. Some of the parts I bought for my mustang came in old NOS looking boxes. A lot of what I have bought from them has been US or Canada made.

Re: Done with Rock Auto...

Well there aren't any mom and pop shops left out here. It's either Autozone or O'Reily's. Rock Auto called today and offered free return shipping, and they are sending me a new rotor. Guess they aren't too bad after all- but my dang truck still wont be done in time to drive it to the Good Guys show this weekend...

Re: Done with Rock Auto...

Its a tough deal since my local store is almost twice as much on the same parts. I hate that but money is tight. I almost always buy local on my parts but if I have the time for the shipping then I will look around.

Re: Done with Rock Auto...

Rock Auto sent me a master cylinder for my K30 a while back, it looked worse than the one I was replacing.

Re: Done with Rock Auto...

I always buy from rock unless I need it right away. I haven't had issues with them sending the wrong part. I have had issues of them sending the part I ordered wrong. 67 -72 rotors come in two different sizes along with bearings. Odd that GM did that for those years but they did.

Re: Done with Rock Auto...

The thing you have to really watch ordering from Rock Auto is the shipping.

Sure, the prices of the parts(even the name brands) is GREAT but, if you order multiple items, they seem to ship from several different warehouses and the shipping will surpass the money saved.

What application were you using for bearings?
The light duty 73-87 rotors do have one bearing that is different form the HD rotors.
