steering box rebuild?
I am in the process of rebuilding my steering box. Actually almost done. Anyways, I was putting the balls back in when I realized I only had 22. I did not drop any, and there are 11 dark and 11 shiny but I know there are supposed to be 24. Were there any boxes with only 22? Or do I have to tear apart my other box to scavenge balls?

Re: steering box rebuild?
Bump for you because I'd like to know too. My box is leaking, and I've been thinking about tackling this.

Re: steering box rebuild?
If you want to rebuild yours, here is a link to an awesome thread: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/gener...build-how.html
Its a great run through on rebuilding them, honestly if it werent for the balls I could have rebuilt it w/o instructions. They arent real tough. The rebuild kit is available at NAPA for ~$100, but you can get it on ebay for ~$30. This kit includes seals, o-rings, snap rings and the teflon piston rings. Posted via Mobile Device |
