Ring Gear change
How much of a difference would i see if i went with a 3:42 ring and pinion. I currently have the factory 3:73 rear end.
I want to keep my low end power but have a little better MPG and lower engine RPMS at highway speeds i do have a 2000RPM stall converter

A 3:42 adds one tooth to the pinion. So roughly a 10% change.
If you're turning 3000rpm on the freeway, after the change 2700 rpm. If you were getting 10 mpg, expect 11 An overdrive transmission is about a 25% change.

I would go with the overdrive.More expensive, but pays bigger dividends in the long run!

not worth the troubel/ expense to swap from 3.73 to 3.42,IMO. Same could be accomplished with taller tires.
