driveshaft help/?'s..
So my new crossmember is in, gm crate motor and 700r4 in place.
My truck has the original 2 piece driveshaft Do I shorten the original drive shaft near the end that connects to the tranny Or do I swap in a 1 piece driveshaft out of something else that is the correct length? Appreciate the help, I figure somebody else swapped in a 700r4 and has been there done that Thanks!! |

Re: driveshaft help/?'s..
For my 200-4R I just used a longer yoke at the back of the trans. That's the beauty of the 200, similar overall case length.
If you have to shorten one end, clearly the trans end (not the one after the bearing) would be the one to do. There are a number of threads on here, and you can also check the Camaro forums. That swap has been done so many times on cars that every issue has been run into at least once, I'm sure, whereas fewer do it on the trucks it seems.

Re: driveshaft help/?'s..
I did the 700r4 swap and had the D/S shortened and new yoke for tranny installed. Also had to move tranny cross member.

Re: driveshaft help/?'s..
I had to move my crossmember too, I picked an aftermarket one up from ECE and swapped out the original
Hopefully the price isnt too bad, a lot of the stuff where I live is overpriced. Haha and like every vehicle I've owned its exceeded itit's original budget |
