Any Wheel Well Difference between Step Side and Fleet Side?

Are their any differences between step side and fleet side trucks, will one accept larger width tires?

Yes, on the 67-72 the stepside rear fenders are narrower than the cab by an inch and a quarter each side. Go and put a straight edge on the door and see. I have widened my bed to make it flush. I have also mini-tubbed it to compensate on the inside. I don't know if there is more room on the inside than a fleetside when stock.
