Re: any body have a 56 chevy deluxe heater core ?
When I was running my stock heater I took the dimensions down to my local radiator shop and got one that was the same size. I modified the fittings to get rid of the internal control valve and put in an inline one. Up here the climate is either you need it or you don't so switching it a couple of times was not a big deal. If you have deluxe controls you could get a longer cable and run it to the inline valve. Get fancy and you could find one with a solenoid and use a switch inside too.

Re: any body have a 56 chevy deluxe heater core ?
For the deluxe heater you might be able to use a cable operated vave hidden inside the heater box so it looks original.
We use something like this for our school buses. There are a few other styles as well. IIRC certain Lincoln Navigators used one, too. |

Re: any body have a 56 chevy deluxe heater core ?
I have a local radiator shop that specializes in classic cars / trucks.... they have my heater box right now and they're working on a solution..... they suggested modifying a core that close in size, and using a generic cable operated valve inside the box. a manual valve under the hood is also an option, but id like to have the dashboard lever work

Re: any body have a 56 chevy deluxe heater core ?
The heater valve 1project2many showed is a Ford C3UZ18495A That fits a number of Broncos and F series trucks.
If you have good ends on the correct but bad heater core a good radiator shop should be able to put a new core in it.

Re: any body have a 56 chevy deluxe heater core ?
Jumbo to alleviate that problem you could install a valve on the heater hose to shut down flow during the summer
