colum shift not lingning up
I just rebuilt a 65 GMC steering column. The problem that I am having is that when the Shift indicator housing is centered at the top of the steering column and I put the truck into park the needle goes way to the left of the park letters. The only way I can get it to work is rotating the housing that the shift indicator housing is attached to but that puts it vary close to coming apart and makes it so the housing is not centered. I don't see any way to adjust it. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: colum shift not lingning up
Is there an adjustment where the shift linkage attached to the column? On other (non-chevy) vehicles I have always started with the trans & column in neutral and adjusted the linkage until it lines up correctly, then fine-tuned in other gears from there.

Yeah I was having the problem even when the linkage was not hooked up. Thanks for the suggestion though. |
