speakers in kick panel, or door, whats best???

I will fab a 6/9 panel in the factory area of the rear speakers, i will replace the dash speakers, and where is the best area for the other 2, kick panel, or door.

If I mount on lower part of door, will the water ruin them?? or will they deteriorate quicker?? whats the best size for door speakers?

Post some pics of what cha got.. THANKS

Are there not enough speakers already in the truck or do you just have to blast your tunes?

Nope, no 8's or 12's, no boom. Just clarity. dash speakers are small.

clarity with 6x9s? if you want clarity and perfection you would still need a sub and a good set of components. kick panels usually put the sound at a better angle.

Re: speakers in kick panel, or door, whats best???

I have power windows, so I put a pair of Alpine 6.5's in the kick panel. The PO already cut holes for the cruddy 5 inchers he had there. I used a 1/2 spacer between the speaker and the kick panel. I just built this sub box today, the sub is shallow and the seat still goes all the way back. I have never had a sub in any of my vehicles, but thought I would put one in my project. I have the 6.5's, the 6x9's and the sub box amped. I guess I like to blast my tunes..lol I am a little old for a sub, but AC/DC Thunderstruck sounds pretty awesome.

What are you going to do for brackets. I used a set of old stock ones I had. I was thinking about fabbing some up with the left over MDF. There is a guy on here that is selling some that look awesome but they are $70....

I know who your talking about, those are great. I was going to buy them, then modify them, then i thought why spend all that money when i can just tac up a set.

I want them to fit full size from top to bottom, his dont do that. I will post pics of how i do it, it will be 16 gauge plate, welded to the cab to make a full sealed enclosure.. his are awesome as well, i just want mine a little different.

those speakers are infinity KAPPA.. those sound awesome.

Re: speakers in kick panel, or door, whats best???

I bought baffles for all of my speakers. They're super cheap and make your speakers sound a little better in my opinion. And now they're totally sealed from the insides of my doors. And I chose to put speakers in my kick panels and doors. I think the round ones are 5.5 inch. I had to cut through a brace behind the kick panel and pound it in a little...kind of a pain. Just something to keep in mind.

I have them amped with a 780W amp and they sound great. I had them in boxes and they sounded better and had good lows, but when I mounted them like this lost a lot of bass. The boxes would not fit.
That's why I went with a small sub.

What are you guys running in the dash? I may hook up some small speakers in the dash and run them off the head unit.

Moisture will kill them in the doors or kick panels regardless. There are kick panels you can buy the can mount speakers without cutting big holes

I got my speakers in the kick panels. Someone at some point cut the holes haha. If you want a sub look at the bazooka tubes. Behind the seat would work for those.

I looked at the bazookas and they were too wide. The top of my box is 4" and the bottom is 5.5".
