Educate me: Why is this bracket attached to the AC controller, what trucks had them?
Here's an AC controller I found loose in the back of a Suburban at a salvage yard (together with most/all of the parts for a 72 burb rear AC setup). Why is the bracket in the photo attached to the AC controller? That on my K20 never had this bracket - it's just bolted to the dash like a heater controller. Also, the screws that affix this bracket to the AC controller are coarsely threaded like those for a heater controller but unlike the fine thread screws that attach my K20 AC controller.
What trucks had these and why not skip the bracket all together?? Is it for a Blazer/Jimmy to attached the underdash speaker? How is YOUR AC controller attached?

In picture one, the two open holes on the outside, those are the mounting holes that hold the unit to the dash. It's upside down in the picture. Two good sized screws come in from under the dash and hold it in place.

Re: Educate me: Why is this bracket attached to the AC controller, what trucks had th
Thanks! I get that part. What I'm wondering is why is this bracket necessary? Other AC controllers I've seen (including that currently on my K20) don't have this bracket at all and are attached directly to the dash. There aren't two styles of AC controllers are there? Were there differing dash holes: one set close together the other further apart?

Huh - am I totally mistaken and ALL AC trucks had this bracket? My K20 isn't here yet for me to check but IIRC it bolted onto the dash just like the heater controller in my K10 - no bracket needed.

I pulled my broken one out of a box for my blazer and it's exactly like your pics. Even with the black screws. Other threads are coarse. I hope you get your trucks soon man.

FYI this same control was used in 65-66 Impalas and I think they added bracket to fit trucks. Jmo.

uncle is correct, same controller as Impala [GM was resourceful back then]. All A/C trucks had the adapter.
