Yeah I loved that truck I remember when you got it I think from a guy in Las Vegas if I remember correctly. I understand you gotta take of other things first before our hobbies.

Re: need a group hug ! and a truck!

Of course I have sold some that I regret being a dealer I have built some sweet stuff, Hurst Olds[ with the Lighting Rods] Monte Carlo SS [my last new car]pace car Camaro's[I had a couple of those]and sweet trucks as well. My kids would cry like babies when they were young I sold a red Vette and my daughter cried for a whole day. I tried to make them understand the difference between a dealer and a collector. I am sure once your ready for a new truck one will find you in short order. Jim

Re: need a group hug ! and a truck!

All I can offer is sympathy, and the Cliff notes of my own story. A long time ago when mid-year Corvettes were common & cheap, we sold our '66 coupe after buying a house. Figured I could just pick up another nice one later.....

Good luck with your search.

I am not a collector but anything is for sale. My problem is that once I start playing my value is 3x what the biggest idiot in the world would pay! Guess that is why I am not a dealer.

It'll be OK man. Focus on your plan, work the plan, when money is solid, start over on a new truck. They will exist then just as they do now.

Re: need a group hug ! and a truck!

In today's times building anything will cost you over $50,000.And most of us will never finish are projects.Paint is the Killer 10,000 for a decent paint Job.All the rubber and the carpet and Seat covering and foam.In side a AC cab if you put it back factory will cost you 5000.00 wire harness seat ducting gauge column carpet and if you have cancer then your in trouble.I see Kids buying clunkers that don't run and are beat to death. Not worth it any more. The old carb Engines will no longer Do.Fuel injected now rules and that will cost you 7000.00 for motor and trans and harness with a low mileage.

My uncial is a car builder He says Buy a car that is running and almost Done for 15,000 to 20,000 most of the headaches will not come

I own 9 trucks 3 of them run I own a Mock up 1970 Nova I've been gathering parts for this car for over 8 years.I have the 396 with a 400 trans got the bucket seats Bought a 1969 center column horse shoe shifter Bought a used big block AC case from a 1969 SS car Got a front end out of a 1972 4 door Nova with a 350 with Air and power steering and power brake and disc brakes.

So its a mock up car never going to build it But at least its has all the parts to turn it into a Nice big block Nova

I guess its about personal preference and what a guys wants from an old car/truck. Old carb'd engines do just fine for me, and an aftermarket A/C system is a $1000, should I decide to put one in. I normally don't run A/C in my newer trucks anyway. I've put 1100 miles on my '68 in the last 3 months with the 6 banger and 3OTT. I do my own body and engine work, and I can get a pretty good paint job for way less than $10,000. I guess if someone has to have everything done, they would have to spend that kind of money.

I personally don't need or what an old vehicle to drive or sound like a new one. When I'm not in my company truck for work, I'm driving either my '68 C-10, my M1009 military Blazer, or until recently my GTO (I'm building the engine for it).

I guess I'm a dying breed. I want an old vehicle because it is an old vehicle. The only modernization I ever do is OD just because I run them at higher highway speeds than they were designed for.

Something nice about limping home with duck tape and popcycle sticks instead of trying to find the broken wire or short on the side of the road
