Take a look in the LMC catalog it shows all the parts and how they go.

I think the GMC grill looks more custom then the common Chevy grill, IMHO.

Re: switching the grill from GMC to CHEVY

There is more to it than just the grille, the front cross member is different, the fenders are different, the core support is different (to accommodate for the different frame.)
I forgot whether the hood is or isn't interchangeable.

Not to mention GMC front ends are considerably harder to find and worth more money. I was talking with some folks in Wisconsin that said they've sold both the chevy's and the GMC's, and the GMC will sell for at least $1000, assuming it's all stock (not a gmc clip on a chevy frame).
Hope that helps,

Re: switching the grill from GMC to CHEVY

Yeah no problem!
and the hood is also different.
Have you done a lot of work on the truck?
If not, I'd sell it and try getting a chevy for a cheaper price.
A quick search found these.

You might be able make $1000 if you don't mind more of a project.

Re: switching the grill from GMC to CHEVY

I have a 53 GMC Suburban that I am keeping GMC for several reasons and the biggest one is that they made less GMC's than Chevy's. I heard they are 3 or 4 Chevy's to every 1 GMC built. I like the Chevy grill better too however.

Re: switching the grill from GMC to CHEVY

I have my 47 GMC and I am keeping it stock. It was good shape to begin with and so much more rare than the Chevys. YES it is a pain in the back side to get some parts for but the chase for the parts is kind of fun. Even within the GMC line the 47 has some things that are only 47. The grille is an example. You cant get one of those at LMC. It isnt the right one. I have one really nice one and a fair one for a spare in case it gets wrecked. Other parts are the front splash pan and the bumper. 47 GMC only. From what I am told some early 48s had them but still very rare.
