Rear Leaf Spring Question

Is there a certain position the rear leaf spring has to go to be installed ? Also How is pinion adjusted ? Thanks

we need more info on your set up. 4wd? pinion angle adjustment i assume? what are you looking to achive? are all good starting questions.

what would the stock pinion angle be ? like 10 degrees or less,, and the springs have a clamp on one end holding the leafs together does it matter if that clamp faces forward of the rear housing or behind the rear housing.Thanks

The centering pin on lift springs will not be centered between the spring eyes. The 6 and 4 inch lift springs that I have used have had the centering pin located a tad closer to the front spring eye. I don't know if this is the case for a stock leaf pack.

If you are running a rear driveshaft without a CV joint, the angle needs to be split evenly between the transfer case yoke end and axle yoke end. The transfer case output shaft and axle pinion must be be parallel. If you are running a CV joint at the transfer case end of your driveshaft, you need to make the angle at the axle yoke about 0 degrees (can give up to 2 degrees to account for axle wrap under acceleration) while pointing the drieshaft directly at the transfercase yoke and put all of the angle into the CV joint. Follow these guidlines to position your spring perches on your axle before welding, or to shim your existing perches and you will have good results. Good luck.

This leaf spring is what I was talking about does this clip holder go in that direction i installed mine and it doesn't fit the bracket I reversed it and it works but I had to force it over to mount into the rear shackle. I had to use this picture for reference.

Your spring perches should be 40.5" from center pin to center pin. If your spring perches are different then you may have a later model axle 73 and up.

Do you know what the 73 up width are, It seems like my rear end axle is not wide enough,It is not reaching the springs on both sides

I recommend buying lift springs and doing away with the blocks. Its safer and if you buy good springs its usually a better ride. They can be costly though.

I found some raised springs but first I have to move both perches on the axle 3/8" so they will line up with the springs I have.

It sounds to me like your trying to line up the perches with the springs? I could be getting it wrong, but if that is the case you don't want to do it that way. You want your rear axle to be perfectly centered under the frame. Weld your spring perches on the axle where they go, evenly spaced, and then bolt your springs to the perches.

I installed the springs in the hangers & bolted them down ,then I measured center to center it was 41-1/4" ,then I measured the axle perches they were 40-1/2" leaving 3/4" that in turn moves each perch outward 3/8" .the rear end should still be centered shouldn't it. If not how would you do it. Thanks for your help by the way.

You need to move the perches to fit yes. Have you verified what frame is under the truck yet? From the way you described it it seems to have a later frame from the width. The springs can move slightly in the hangers but not
That much and still be Strait. If you're carefully you can reuse the stock ones but it may be better to get New Ones welded on.
