gas tanks in-bed
I have a 67 shortbed with an older porterbuild system(compressor, motor & bags). That system was put in the spot in the frame, where the gas tank would go and I want to get the tank outta the cab. Anyone have pics of an IN-BED fuel tank they can post? or advice that would help?

Re: gas tanks in-bed
Sorry no pictures, but I designed and built an aluminum tool box/fuel tank back in 1995.
It basically looks like a chest type tool box but the whole bottom half is a 40+ gallon tank. It works pretty good, but with some experience now I should have just bought a good Rawson/Koening chest type tool box and then made an aluminum fuel tank to go inside of it. In fact still planning on doing so someday. It really works pretty well, I built it with baffles in it to minimize the sloshing. But should have designed it with a pocket or a low area in it where the fuel pickup is at to minimize the chance of cavitation. It wasn't a big problem back when I was running a carburator. But now that it is fuel injected is is more of a issue, just have to keep from making turns to the right to quickly. My biggest thing I hate about a fuel this setup is the bed now has that tool box/tank taking up the front of the bed. And now my motorcycle will not fit with the tailgate up. I will post some pictures when I have my camera near the truck. Quote:
