Anyone running 18x7 & 18x9 showwheels streeters?
After 17 years it's time for a change. I've been a stickler for stock height (for my truck, I love seeing it on other rides) but it's time for a change. I've decided to go with a full ECE kit, 4/6 drop and 5 lug conversion
I know what wheels I want, but I'm not sure about size. 67-69's have narrower rears. When you drop and add disc brakes it kicks the front wheels out even farther, and I'm sure we've all seen the trucks where the front wheels stick noticeably farther out than the back and it looks odd. SO, I was thinking about the gray showwheels streeter for my C10 in 18x7 and 18x9, they have 4.25 and 5.25 inch BS respectively, which means the front wheels will be "sucked in" about an inch more than the rear which should actually put them at about the same place in the wheel well. My other option is 20x8.5 fronts and 20x10 rear, but I've read there is back spacing issues with the narrower 67-69 rears and not fitting within the stepsides fenders, and I don't think I want 20's and I will not run spacers. Long story short, is anyone running an 18x7 streeter up front with 18x9 in the back? Color or chrome don't matter, I'd just like to see a pic of how they look/fit. I run 17" streeters on my mustang in black: I'm pretty sure this truck is running what I want, but I'm not 100% sure, can't find the specs on it:

Anyone? I may just have to find a 71/72 rear and run the 20's like gringoloco (he repainted his and put different caps on):

Doesn't look like they make any of their wheels. Creatively worded website .
Many styles look like other companies wheels... Exactly! |

JRDV,
I'm running the same size wheel front and back but hate the size tires I choose and need to change them. What size and brand tires are you running? Thanks,

Are those the 18x7 or 8's in the front? What size tires are you running?
Looks good

The truck in pic below has 17 X 9's, and they looked terrible without spacers. It has 1.25" spacers now, and it looks great. I don't know if my buddy has any pics without the spacers, but it looked bad. I don't know if they have the same offset as the ones you want, but they won't look good with the narrow rearend if they are.

BTW, these are Summit wheels, 17 X 8 front, 17 X 9 with 1.25 spacers in the rear. This truck is a '70 with the narrow rearend and a 71 - 72 frontend. It has welded and re-drilled axles to get the 5 lug pattern.

Re: Anyone running 18x7 & 18x9 showwheels streeters?
I've started looking for a 71/72 rear. I've come across so many I could have bought cheap over the years... They pop up around here from time to time. My dad scrapped so many of them...
I'm not in any kind of a hurry. The 17x9's above look to have a lot more BS than the one's I want to use.

Just make sure you compare backspace numbers with other STEPSIDE trucks and the same rearend width.
Fleetside trucks have alot more room for tires in the rear. This is hot trux old stepside. 71-72 (wider) rearend. 20x8.5's on all four corners with 5.25" BS. 245/40 and 255/45 tires.

Say it ain't so.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
An 18x9 with 5.25" bs will fit in a stock stepside with a wider 71/72 rear. The ECE Super Track bar will be required to center the rearend, though. If there is any rubbing issues, you can use a 1/4" spacer.

Re: Anyone running 18x7 & 18x9 showwheels streeters?
I've located a couple rear axles already. Both are about 2 hours in opposite directions. Hopefully something more local will pop up. I'm going to be getting ECE's entire 4/6 drop kit. I've always loved my truck, but it wasn't what I wanted. I've always wanted a fleet with CST trim all around (lower, nose, and tailgate). I finally have some $ to drop on all this crap. Owning it for 17 years... I just can't let it go, so I'm going to make it into what I want Don't worry, it will make a heck of a nice trailer!

Here's a picture from Pro Performance's website with a truck that has 18x8 and 18x9 Showwheel Streeters.
There's a few more in their gallery: http://www.azproperformance.com/plog...vel=album&id=2

Here's the link to the picture with the sizes. It's in Travis's gallery twice.
http://www.azproperformance.com/plog...picture&id=130 I like 18's if they have some meaty tires, but like we talked about, I prefer 20's on our trucks. I think there's plenty of room even with some taller tires.
