I am adding A/C to my '72 4x4. Its currently got a 396, and after running the numbers it comes back as a 66 325hp from an impala/chevelle.

Pictured is my current pulley setup. Im guessing it all will need changed? From what i have seen in pictures is that the A/C Compressor will go right where my alternator currently is.

Can you guys point me in the direction of what i need to do to add an A/C COmpressor to this setup? Im new to building somthing like this and have no idea where to start. Thanks!

Looks like you have a newer long water pump set up. If you want it to look correct you will need to find the short water pump setup which will move the alt to the driver side and A/C to the pass side. Not real easy to find brackets, but not tough either. Not cheap however. It will also change your power steering setup.

not really needing it to look correct, just wanting it to function and not look too hacked in there lol.

so I need all the brackets from a big block truck and a shorter water pump? and will I be able to use my power steering pump or does that need changed as well

I am not sure what it would take to make your current setup work. If you went to the short pump you would be changing everything on the front of the engine. Water pump, pullies and power steering included. Maybe someone knows a way to make your current setup work.

If you would like to use all the stuff you currently have, just search for the compressor/hoses and brackets off any 73 to early 80's truck with a big block, they are pretty much all the same.

will the ac compressor then mount on the drivers side? im just wondering if that will make the compressor hose routingna pain.

yes, it would mount on the drivers side and yes it will be a small challenge to route the hoses,
