Crossmember Removal
On te 77 C30 frame i have it has a crossmember going between frame rails for the cab mounts. Since the ones on my k10 are bent i figured hell why not. 14 rivets and 2 gas tank straps later she's loose!! But how would i go about getting it out between the rails? Thanks in advance everyone.

Re: Crossmember Removal
Most likely you will have to cut it in half to get it out then weld together once installed. The frame might have to flex or bow out to make room to get it out otherwise. Just my guess with no pics.

Re: Crossmember Removal
That's what i was afraid of, the BFH. I won't cut it seems like that would weaken it too bad, take it wheeling good and have the weld break, bang off goes the body. No bueno... I'll try beating it more tomorrow and see what happens. If all else fails and i can't get it i'll probably get the driver side replaced. Passenger is fine... It's weird.

Re: Crossmember Removal
If you have all the rivets out and a welder, why not tack a section of pipe onto a small bottle jack and use it to spread the frame a bit? Would not only help on removal, but for installation too.

Re: Crossmember Removal
Winner winner, bfh. I got it back in the same way too. Drilled out the holes for 7/16 bolts as they were a bit loose for my 3/8 liking. Ah well body n tank back in tomorrow!
