67 door glass question
What actually holds the glass in place in the channel it rests in?

Re: 67 door glass question
It's felt-impregnated rubber. It's a friction fit.

Re: 67 door glass question
If you are speaking of the lower channel that goes on the window requlator, and is attached to the glass it would be called glass setting tape.

Re: 67 door glass question
Thanks. My glass is totally loose which causes it to jump the track. Can someone outline the procedure for installing the tape. I assume you have to remove the glass from the door and I have no idea how to do that.

Re: 67 door glass question
It's hard to get to,but you should be able to wedge/duct tape the glass in the up position and lower the mechanism. What we don't know yet is why this happened. Could be that channel is crusty,so replacing would be required. Could be the vertical channels got so worn the window was getting cocked and wedge coming down,so popped out of the track. It could be the little roller isn't rolling freely in it's track,so allowing the window to cock and wedge. Pop the interior panel off and have a look, then see where you have to go from there.

Re: 67 door glass question
The easy repair is to use windshield setting urethane and a caulking gun
remove the door panel raise the loose window and block it up out of the way using a paint paddle or even folded newspaper clean off the bottom of the glass and the regulator channel remove any friction tape simply lay a good bead of urethane into the regulator channel and lower the glass into the bed of urethane and gently roll the window up and let set 24 hours and it will never fall off again This is a quick easy and permanent repair without removing the glass or regulator and works well for worn channels . |
