Re: swap meet

I hit them all but will not be making this one,, real job is getting in the way. It was not very good the last few times I went. Same stuff you see at Sauget, Belleville and Gateway. If you are close, check it out. I would not waste a long drive on it.

Re: swap meet

I hate it when my job gets in the way and it seems to happen more all the time. I have still not decided what I am doing but I am leaning more toward coming over to the Gateway event because of its size.

Re: swap meet

Hey Todd. I like the meet at Sauget, that is where my smoker came from, but the one at the dragstrip is way bigger. I would hit that one if I had to choose.

Re: swap meet

I found my NOS 67 fender for $30 at the dragstrip. I would like to find a few more. LOL It seems like the dragstrip has had worse weather. One year was a tornado and another was a hail storm that totaled my trailer. I go thru this every year and you have helped a lot with your suggestions, Specialtyretail

Re: swap meet

I am not sure if they will see this thread but Sammy and FireDog hit several of the swap meets in the St. Louis area. Might check with them.

Re: swap meet

My dad is going, I told him to call me if he finds any good 67-72 parts. I only need rear bumper brackets and possibly a passenger side fender (I need to look through my parts to see if I still have a good one). I need both front and back bumpers and a gauge bezel, but I want them to look good so I plan on buying them new.

Weather is always a issue here. Hard to plan in advance never know if it's going to be rain, snow, ice or something worse.

Re: swap meet

If I go it will be to look for the deals. A few times I have loaded up the trailer full of decent parts and priced them to sell without just giving them away. Only to get the chance to bring 90% back home again. As you can see in one corner of my work space. Just too much work involved.

Re: swap meet

Went to the swap meet at Six Flags and not much there for 67-72 trucks. There was a rust free 1967 swb Chevy truck for sale. It had factory air, automatic and a set of buddy buckets in it! Did not have the price on it so I called the guy and he said it only had 40 thousand original miles on it? and he wanted $10500 for it. Here are a few pictures of it

Re: swap meet

WOW, Nice truck 70shortfleet. You would think that nice of a truck and wanting that much for it they would have put it in the swap meet instead of the parking lot. Was it a V8 or I6?

It had a 283 in it. You think he would trade even up for my Harley?

You do not know until you ask. Was it truely rust free and as nice as it looks in the pictures? Interior clean? Did he seem open to offers or firm on the price? Sorry for all the questions but you know how it is. LOL

It was pretty cold outside so I didn't get on the ground to check out under it but it was really nice up on top! The tailgate did not have any rust but did have a bow in it from use. The buddy buckets were recovered and don't know if they were original to the truck. It was locked up so I couldn't get a good look inside. If the mileage was correct and the under side looks as good as the top did I would think the price is right!

Re: swap meet

I went to a swap meet in Louisville, KY yesterday and came home with a few nice items. A couple nice doors, front painted bumper and this pile of stuff.

Re: swap meet

I was at the Louisville swap meet also. Picked up some loom and stuff for my new wire harness. Saturday was insane with all the people there. I am hearing Sunday was a nice day as far as lack of people there. Easier to look at stuff.
