CPP Crossmember Install Question
I promise I have looked through the board and I am not finding what I need. I picked up a CPP lowering crossmember for the rear trailing arms and was curious if I can do the install with the cab still on?? I am going to remove the bed for the C-Notch and other rear add ons. I have seen some install pics but the cab is always off in the pics. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Trust and believe you need a cutting torch for those rivets. I'm in the process of lowering my truck with CPP stuff right now.

Torch helps for sure, but a cut off wheel used to cross cut the rivets will aid in getting one side removed. Then just drive 'em out. A pneumatic chisel with a drift and chisel attachments and a pair of ear plugs will be your friend! Good luck!

Well I have a dremel and a angle grinder-is it possible to get out with those? Any advice one getting those rivets out??

I did mine with the cab on about a month ago. Didn't plan on originally doing it that but it can be done. All of the lower rivets... I ground off with a flap grinding disc. Probably took 10 minutes....about a minute each. Like mentioned above, I used a cut off wheel to do the upper ones. Driving out what's left is a pain in the butt. Hard to get a good swing of the hammer at the upper ones. Ear protection and safety glasses are a must. Face shield is even better.

I used the air chisel a few times from harbor freight and it got it done to an extent. You'll need ear plugs for sure. I bought a quality Bosch grinder and that thing rips. It broke this past weekend, Makita/Milwaukee have wayyyy better power tools. Good luck, a cool 30 pack will make it that much better haha

I'm doing a c-notch right now. Those rivets can be difficult for sure, especially when you can't get a good angle to swing a hammer. I have been using an angle grinder to flatten the bottom and then drilling in the center about 1/4" or so. Then when I hammer it out I have a center point and I think the rivet can collapse just a tiny bit on itself so it pushes out better.

Did mine with the cab on. Used an angle grinder on top and bottom rivets and an air chisel to finish them off. Wear ear plugs, face shield, and respirator if possible. I had so much dust from the grind and cut off wheels in my nose, mouth, lungs, etc. Dumb move on my part not to wear at least one of those cheap paper masks. Better than nothing.
