FS:Divorced NP20? transfer case

I've got this Np20?(some say 201) it has the 1.96 to 1 ratio. I'm wanting $150 for it. It is a little too heavy for me to ship.

what the heck did you get that out of? i am curious about some of those old NP cases...the 200, 201, and 202 (I believe all three of these exist). I've heard they are as good as the 205, just rarer and older. I know some old Internationals had t cases like that, but IH stuff is even more confusing than GM stuff.

Well, it goes like this. I went to a guys house to look at a '63 4wd he had for sale. It was a 2wd with 3/4 ton running gear. I wasn't impressed with the hack job but noticed this case laying in the guys yard and finally got him to let it go. He said it came with the running gear and the case has '63 stamped on it. He said it came out of a lwb 3/4 ton. that's all I know about it. Figured I could use it sometime but I know I never will. Everything on this case is identical to my 205 in the blazer.

always wondered what a divorced T-case looked like, how does that work? slip it in the back of a "2wd" trans like a driveshaft yoke would?

I think you actually wind up with a short driveshaft between tranny/transfer.

You run what is called an "intermediate" shaft between the transmission and t-case. Uses the same transmission as a 2wd (which is one reason some OEMs used them, parts interchangability). The intermediate shaft is basically a little driveshaft.

That's the same way an aux transmission bolts up...


As a '63 I'd say it'd be an NP202/NP203, don't think the NP203 came out until a little later IIRC. Not sure about the years for chevys though, may be slightly different.

I think the 203 might be a chain drive...

its a rockwell

its a rockwell t/c. i havent seen to many of them, but mine 69 had one in it origionally. i was told by several of the aftermarket 4x4 guys that parts were no longer available for these, so i **** canned it. it is a great t/c, great big bearings and shafts. all geardrive. i wish i still had it

that isn't a rockwell...it must be an older New Process. I have heard of NP200, 201, and 202, but never really saw one up close, and I would guess that is what you have. It won't be an NP203, that did not debut til the 70's in fulltime Ford and GM 4x4's, and it is chain drive. I am confused because I thought the rockwell (divorced) came in all GM 60-66 4x4's. Hmmm. Oh yeah, here is a pic of my Rockwell case, notice the little access cover I circled is shaped like a quatrefoil, an easy way to distinguish it from others:

EDIT: Is that a parking brake ass'y on the rear output shaft? cool!
