FML starter
So I parked at auto zone to get oil and antifreeze for my 1975 k10 and came out to start it and bam got a grinding sound then nothing but whining. Looked under to see my starter bolts broken off and bolts laying on the ground. So my question is after I pull the bolts and get the starter out can I get new bolts and put it back on? Does anybody have step by step on removal and install? I'm stuck till I can get a tow in a little so I am trying to get ahead here.
Thanks for any help guys. I'm going to tear this baby down when I get it home and just ride my motorcycle. Thank god for summer time coming. |

Re: FML starter
They have bolts on the help section. Leave the starter held up there and use a center punch to get a good centered hole to start drilling the old bolts out. Use an E-Z out and should be good. If you mess the threads up (very unlikely) you'll have to drill, tap, and helicoil it.

Re: FML starter
Thanks guys. I am going to go after this monster on Wednesday probably or today. Like I said I'll be going through it all though now cause it has issues. Needs a serious tune up and cleaned and babied cause I was looking yesterday and noticed so much wrong with the engine it made me sick. On a cold start I have to spray a little starter fluid in my carbs to even get it started.
