I bought this 1961 ford uni about 16 months ago.Plans are 302 motor c4 trans MM2 front end disk brakes front back gona leave as much of the original patina as I can (fix all rust holes).air ride front and back.

Re: 61 Ford unibody project

The inline 6 was froze up and missing its head and other parts so the front end came off as well as the inline 6 and 3 on the tree.

Re: 61 Ford unibody project

Looks to be in great shape with good patina. Nice find.

A friend of mine bought one recently and then saw one in a yard. That one he was able to haul off for free. Unfortunately both are quite rusty.

Re: 61 Ford unibody project

I always liked those unibodies. I met my wife in 1964 and she was driving her dad's 61 dark blue unibody. Wish I'd have gotten it from him.

They have a look all there own with the higher bed and the downward body line and matching back wheel wells.

Re: 61 Ford unibody project

I go back and fourth on the wheels I am leaning more toward the restro mod look lately and thinking some 20 x9.5 rear and 20x8.5 front mb old schools.the motor will look and sound with the flowmaster 10s more restro mod but will be carbureted.

Re: 61 Ford unibody project

Small progress wanted to put everything together on the motor so there no hiccups later.Put the water pump alt damper and pulleys on block will be painted the color of the truck after its rebuilt.

Never mind the water pump pulley bolts they will be changed out.And I have a Chevy style msd cap coming for the dizy to get rid of the ugly huge cap that's on it now.

Re: 61 Ford unibody project

That's a pretty rust free truck. Are you going to leave the torque box like that ?

Mine has serious rust in the torque box. It needs to be rebuilt. I set mine a Crown Victoria frame w/4.6L
