Found the leak source in my 205 transfer case, question
found my leak, is that the speedo cable?

Yup, unscrew the cable, push to the side, get a socket that fits the larger nut 1-1/16'' (i think) unscrew that and remove the nut and driven gear. Go to local transmission shop and tell them you need a seal that fits inside there. I think there is room for you to double them up

thanks guys. i've done some reading that gear oil is ideal, but obviously PO had tranny fluid in there. keep it the same?

If the 205 is bolted to an automatic transmission, then you may have a problem. Pull the filler plug and see how much fluid comes out. If it is overfull, you will have to pull the case out of the truck and replace the seals in the adapter housing. Transfer case should take 80/90 wt gear oil
