Question side tire mount

in sect.10 sheet 3.02 factory assy. manual upper Lh corner, it shows a spacer on top of the spring, to off set the spare tire weight to keep the bed level. does anyone know how thick the spacer is? the # is 2308561, can not find the # anywhere. asked the Q on stovebolt and got no answer, help. 53 3100 Randy

That manual is actually a 54 manual so that may be a 54 only item. Most of it works fine for 47/53 but there are a few 54 only things in it. Who ever reprinted it decided it fit all years though. Glad they did as I use the daylights out of it .

Thanks mr48chev, my buddy had a spacer on his, which was a 53, but he is not using the tire mount or finder so he scraped it. so now i'am looking for one. Randy

The ones I have taken off are usually the same thickness as the wedge at its thickest part. On occasion I have seen them at half that height.

the task force factory assembly manual also shows the shim for 55-59 trucks
i reassembled mine with the side spare and no shim, haven't noticed any lean
