steering too easy.....
i dunno if this sounds strange or not but on an 85 i just picked up the suspension is all brand new but the steering just turns really easy...it doesnt have any tightness to it. i dunno if this makes any sense or not. wondering if theres a way to firm it up....remember this is all new suspension so theres nothing thats worn except maybe the steering box but im not sure if thats what it is.

These truck's steering is overboosted. Plain and simple. I guess all new suspension components would only amplify that. Do you have wide tires? Those can contribute to the lack of "tightness" in the steering. The steering box could be worn, but most likely it is the normal characteristic of the truck.

Just to be on the safe side, check for cracks in the frame around and behind the steering box. These trucks are prone to them...although they're more likely to be found on lifted trucks.
Here's a pic of the crack on my frame that I had fixed last month: EDIT: I forgot to mention that as soon as the crack was fixed, my steering got a LOT tighter.

I know what you mean about toooo easy. I just got my 84, and i steers smoother than my 96 Cavalier, or my 97 V8 S-10 did even with a ZQ8 gearbox. It's like the front tires are on ice. I didn't even worry about it, I love it!
