Anyone Know This SBC Power Steering Bracket??
I was told by a friend, who gave it to me, that it was off of an old 283 motor? Its awesome , down out of the way, clears the balancer, looks so much cleaner than the stock 81-87 location which is up higher and at an angle.
There is only two drawbacks: 1. I don't have a brace for the rear so it wobbles just a bit, but not enough to pose a problem. 2. I had to get a custom high pressure line made for it. It wasn't real expensive but it definitely doesn't look stock. I am wondering if anyone has seen this before and if you know where it came from. I am also wondering if there was another bracket that went with it to brace the rear.

Nah, its definitely cast. Its not machined or anything, I dunno how you would make something like that.

Yes that is the bracket that came on my 79. There was a bracket that went up the the first bolt on the left manifold to help prevent the pump from flexing under loads. It looks like yours was trimmed a bit.

You could easily make a brace from the bracket to the motor mount bolt.

Re: Anyone Know This SBC Power Steering Bracket??
Thanks guys. So late 70s truck? Thats good to know, maybe I can find the rear bracket. Sometime, although wouldn't much good with headers. It doesn't much too much. I also had to shim it to get the pulleys lined up.

Just use a manifold bolt and a piece of pipe/tubing as a spacer between the bracket and header flange.
