Axle swap

I was looking at changing my rear axle to 5 bolt from 6 bolt on my 67 c10 and was wondering, can i bolt in axle shafts from a 72 that are 5 bolt, into my housing? I see replacement axles that are available as well, but wanted to know if the factory shafts will fit into mine?

Re: Axle swap

The 67 thru earily 70 trucks have a shorter axle shaft - late production 70 and I believe thru 85 have the longer shaft. The short answer is 72 wont fit 67 (too long). The complete rear end will interchange.
