Doesn't look seated to me.
You could always pull the other side to compare, but I'm pretty sure its not seated. |

I always took a 2x4 and tapped that puppy flush with the hub.

Seal should be flush with back of hub. It's not seated yet.

Should be flush.
Your seal is not seated. It looks like its right up against the inner bearing. Is that bearing preventing it from going further into the hub? Did you do anything else like replace the inner bearing and race? If the bearings where replaced did you compare them to the old bearings and did they match? It's very common to receive incorrect parts from suppliers. Is the bearing race fully seated in the hub? Is the race cockeyed in the hub preventing it from fully seating? Is there any debris or obstruction between the race and hub seating surface which would prevent the race from seating properly? Something appears to definitely be up there with the seal and/or bearing and needs to be looked into. Please keep us posted on the resolution.

71 Dually-- Im going to pull the other one apart since it only has the Bearing race installed currently and re-verify everything (Size/shape/height).. Ive checked them once..but something isnt right.
The other bearing seal was installed and removed and ther is evidence that its bottoming out against the new race..im perplexed why these dont drop right in since they are they same height as the original.. Ill also ck to makse sure im getting the new race all the way down (best i can tell it is) |

You should be able to look in from the opposite side and see if the race is up against the stop. If it is, you probably have the wrong bearings. Looks like the inner race isn't seated all the way, causing the seal to stick up.
