55 2nd Series Hinge Question
I just brought a 55 Chevy pickup home. As you can see from the picture, the passenger side lower door hinge mounting point has some issue. I have not been able to find any reproduction parts for that item. Does anyone know of a company that makes that part? Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: 55 2nd Series Hinge Question
Have to think from the picture that there are a few more problems than the hinge pocket. What you are looking for (I think) is the lower door post Classic parts number 44-562.

Its hard to tell what you are referring to but all the parts for that area are available. It is a troublesome area in these trucks.

Re: 55 2nd Series Hinge Question
you couldn't have looked too hard. there is a plethora of vendors that sell the hinges and hinge repair panels for that area of your truck. brothers truck, lmc trucks and ebay have all those parts. you can also re-pin the hinges.

Re: 55 2nd Series Hinge Question
I appreciate the replies. I didn't know what the area was called. I was able to find the hinges but not the patch. The truck does have a lot of issues but it is a family vehicle. The last time the truck was on the road was June 78. It sat in a field after that. My uncle left it to me in his will.

Re: 55 2nd Series Hinge Question
you will need
hinge panel http://www.classicparts.com/1955-59-.../#.U17xdvldXRI Pillar panel http://www.classicparts.com/1955-59-.../#.U17xk_ldXRI inner pillar panel http://www.classicparts.com/1955-59-.../#.U17xuvldXRI Door hinge http://www.classicparts.com/1955-59-.../#.U17x2fldXRI I think you will find that the door needs a lot of work as well. Other companies sell them as well. |
