72 K10 stock wheel width?

I searched quite a bit and I am having a hard time finding an answer, I have the white steel wheels that I believe are original to my 72 K10 but not sure what width they should be if they are the originals?

Base wheel size was 15x6" on a 72 K10.
The two RPO optional sizes were 16x5" and 16.5x8.25".

Could 16.5x8.25 be had on a 2wd stock or just on 4wd? I have a set here in 6 bolt that accept the clip on caps. thought about taking the centers out and trying to find 16" hoops for them. love those dog dish caps!

No they were only offered on 4x4 Fleetside K10 and Blazers as I recall.

Yikes. I was hoping to use stock steelies on my truck but putting a 2.5" lift on and can't see running less than a 32" tire. Can't find anything that would fit on a 6" wheel.

Having trouble following.
You wanted stock wheels but much taller than stock tires so your lift looks OK.
Does that about sum it up?
You do realize the stock tires were G78-15 running about 28" tall.

Yeah that pretty well sums it up. I think the lift is important because I want to do some Idaho forest roads and such and sometimes you'll get a washout or something, the long bed doesn't do me any favors there. I have 31-10.50's on it now with aftermarket wheels and the stockers sitting around in storage.

I honestly don't know whether the truck even has any kind of lift now but here are some pics:

Re: 72 K10 stock wheel width?

Those are kind of hard to run with 15" wheels! :-)

But really a set of 16x6 steel wheels and 23/85/16 tires are a good choice just don't buy any load range E tires.

I actually really like the idea of running a 235/85R16.

Yeah I like them because it keeps all the tire in the wheel well, truck doesn't look like a skateboard and mud dose not fly all over the side of the truck.

Re: 72 K10 stock wheel width?

I will probably run some kind of AT for year-round use, MT's make me nervous in the winter. But I definitely like the idea of a small lift, stock steel wheels, and 32" pizza cutters. That is exactly what I was shooting for.

Stock style 6-lug 16x6 or 7" wheels don't grow on trees.

If BFG still makes their 33x9.50R15 tires they might be worth looking into as well. Still a 6" rim is on the narrow side though.

Re: 72 K10 stock wheel width?

Are there 15" factory steel six lug wheels that are wider than my six inch wheels and will fit my stock caps?

Yes,and put the BFG 33/9.50s on those and you'll have a nice set up with a 2"-2.5 lift. If you get 16" wheels, take a look at 255/85-16 Cooper Discoverer S/Ts

Re: 72 K10 stock wheel width?

Been reading all night, looks like I need the M1009 wheels? Me and everybody else, right? Ah well. It also looks like the pizza cutter selection is a lot better in a 16. Right now I am probably leaning toward a 16 aftermarket steel wheel, nit sure whether black or white. Any suggestions?
