Operation 1950 Burn Victim
Good day fellow GM guy's. New build thread. My bosses 1950 Chevy. His 1st ever truck. He picked this gem up when he was only 12 years old. Drove it through high school. Some time in 1980 she was the victim of a fire. Hence the title name. After many years of sitting in storage he has given me the opportunity to restore this sweet old beast. 4 very long days and she is all in pieces. Many more pics to come. |

Christmas is coming early.
Among all the little things that I have ordered from Brothers Trucks, (which is an amazing company to work with) from TCI Engineering I ordered their 1950 Chevy Truck Rear Parabolic Leaf Spring Suspension Kit - Part number: 432-4610-00 She is gonna look so so sweet sitting in the back. I also got that rear leaf set.. Easy to instal, and good strong material.

I'm trying to post new pics but that blasted Photobucket is down.
I ordered the front end kit with Drop Axle and brakes and heavy duty Tie Rod with ends. Rear roll pan so I can trim out the back. I will be installing a rear access fuel filler from the licenses plate door next. Picking up the frame from the Blaster shop tomorrow. Next step will be to cut off all the old spring shackle brackets and prep it for the "NEW" goodies. Stay Tuned |

Time To cut off all the useless junk.
Flip it and do the bottom. Flip it back and mock up the Rotisserie frames. Here is the Rear Cross member with in-board shock mounts. Installing the new Diff. Brackets. Taking the few needed pieces off this old junk. Still waiting for the CPP front end drop axle and disk brakes. |

Reluctantly waiting on Back ordered parts. As it turns out the front drop axle is made out of 100% pure Unobtainium. This is also true for the radiator support. I am not really happy with the place I ordered these parts from but what am I supposed to do?
So on to the things that I can control. Pictures!!!! The rear diff is in Built a sweet rotisserie Picked up little peach to mount up the T5 BW tranny. And on to the doors. One has some bondo in it from a little wack, but that aint no big deal. All theses goodies as well as the fenders and bed are going to the media blaster this week. Then off to the pain guy. In the mean time the frame will be mocked up with the engine and tranny then sent out to the drivetrain guy to build a drive line and rebuild the Diff with some 3.55:1 gears. |

Cancel your orders, there's plenty of vendors for these trucks. Cpp? I'd go with a SIDS axle ,drop axle . And he'll get it to you and it'll be perfect
