69 Stepside just back from paint
Quick back story....
This was bought and restored by my father over the last 6 months. He just retired at 69 and has NEVER done any sort of work like this, 100% Bondo and body work virgin. We were trying to figure out what to do color wise to break up the blue. Maybe a white or black roof etc. He's on here everyday so your posts/build threads really got him motivated to tackle this project this winter. Aligning the hood and body panels are on the short list In the next few days. I thought he did a hell of a job as a first project and thought I would share with everyone. Please share some thoughts and/or pictures on what direction to go with the 2 tone paint -Wedgewood Blue Satin (Maaco under 1K) -350 auto -Disc front conversion still on 6 lugs -17" American Racing wheels on Kumo tires -A upgraded stereo with 10" subs. that would make any 18 yr. old kid smile - Brothers 4/6 static drop kit with new front + rear sway bar and gas shocks |

Re: 69 Stepside just back from paint
Very nice. Maybe he missed his calling!
I've always been a fan of a white roof. Simple and always cool.

Re: 69 Stepside just back from paint
Looks great! He did a great job, looks like he knew what he was doing. I painted my truck a few years ago, never did body work before and was scared I would humiliate myself. I was going to sneak it out of town and sell it if it turned out bad, I got lucky and it turned out good. It's amazing what even us rookies can accomplish with a little ambition.
As for breaking up the blue you could paint the top of the cab white or maybe some rally stripes on the roof and hood. Again, great job on the truck! Looks very nice!

Re: 69 Stepside just back from paint
I think with the blue rolled bumper it needs something to break up the color, it doesn't look bad as it sits but it does ask for something. Maybe if it had the fender emblems, that might do it.

X2
I like the color. It's what I want on my 4x4 with white cab and white bottom. |

Re: 69 Stepside just back from paint
I think it's a fantastic job, maybe two tone would help there is a lot of blue.

A white top will change it's look or even a darker shade of blue on top.

Re: 69 Stepside just back from paint
A white roof and emblems would do alot to break up the blue, agreed.

Re: 69 Stepside just back from paint
Maybe you could get someone to do some photoshopping. That is the best way to see what direction to go.

Re: 69 Stepside just back from paint
Just googled this picture. The blue is a little lighter but it gives the idea.

Re: 69 Stepside just back from paint
It must look pretty good now. A guy almost wrecked his landscaping truck/trailer rubbernecking it out of his back window yesterday.
