steering column shaft

Anyone know how much play should be in your steering column or shaft? I can manually twist the shaft by hand by the universal joint and feel a little bit of play does that sound normal? Also up and down feels like there is a little bit of play.

Re: steering column shaft

I took apart the steering shaft my next question is should a universal joint move up and down and a little to the side also because mine does. I'm wondering if that's where my play is coming from
