Wink Which s10 frame to get??

What years of frames and long or short box is needed for a frame swap in a 1951 1/2 ton truck?

I am only going to use the back half of the frame so I can fit wider tires in the back. Using mustang II for the front end. Merge will be behind the stock cab.

Local u wrench it has them bare for $50 up to $300 complete with rear end.

Re: Which s10 frame to get??

as for what I remember from when I was looking for a frame 6-7 years ago, there is no real difference between the frames for all the years. the only real difference is in the length of the frames between the long box and short box. the frame you would be looking for is the regular cab long box for as it has a wheel base of 116 inch, which is great for the AD short box trucks, and if you are doing a AD long box you would be looking for a ext cab short box s10 as it has a 123 inch wheel base.

If it was me I would just use the whole s10 frame because you would get more travel with the s10 (perfect if you want to airbag), and parts are cheaper with the s10, and if you use the s10 front end you wouldn't have to line up the frame with the clip. So its leaving me and I'm sure some other people wondering about why you want to use the mustang II?

Re: Which s10 frame to get??

Thx I will look for a long box frame for my short box AD.

I prefer the mustang front end as opposed to the whole s10 frame swap for several reasons. First is I don't want to fab up cab, bumper and other brackets etc, just to put it all back together. My buddy bought a frame that was back halved and it is rather simple. I want rack and pinion steering and the bigger ball joints. S10 swap lsx headers are expensive and I need as much engine to frame clearance as possible.

Was going to ask why not just tub your box but if you can get a bare frame for $50, that's cheap.
