inline 6, TH350.....what gear ratio?

Anyone have a favorite rear ratio with an inliner and a Th350? I have been told 3:07/3:08 or 3:42s seem the best. I can get 3:73s all day long but those who have had the th350 say not freeway friendly on a road trip. Not planning on pulling , just cruising around and commuting.

What I6 you rodding this time? I wanna see some pics! A good ratio would be 3.42.1..course...all pending on what axle and what size tire your running. If your running a 29 inch or taller tire I wouldn't go taller then 3.42.1...I have 3.73.1 in my original 12 bolt axle...and the SM425 4 speed with granny first. Cruising is 50-55 at 2500 rpm...I'm gonna change that by adding a OD 5 speed.

Re: inline 6, TH350.....what gear ratio?

My daughter's 82 C10 had the 250, T350 & a 2.76 rear end. It would cruise at 70-75 all day, but you sure were not going to drag race anyone. If it is a cruiser and not a hot rod, I would go with a 3.07/3.08 (always forget which one is car and which is truck). I wish we still had her 82. It was a decent everyday truck,. You won't be getting much better gas mileage then a V8, but it is a nice rider.
