Rear disc brake conversion kit

I've looked at several different places and have had no luck in finding a conversion kit. I have a rear end out of a '97 K2500 that I'm putting in a '66 C10. Does anyone know where or if there is evening a rear brake conversion kit for this?? Thanks in advance.

Re: Rear disc brake conversion kit

I would see if you can find some late model truck rear brakes. I swapped the whole axle from a 2002 GMC with factory dual piston rear brakes with internal emergency brake... you might be able to adapt the brakes... But I paid $400 for the whole axle....

Full floating or semi floating axle? I think there are factory disc brakes for both.

Re: Rear disc brake conversion kit

I put a SF 14 bolt in my truck, and the disk conversion is not to expensive.

Loaded Calipers from Napa are $150, Disks are $80, and the brackets $250. You can cheap out here, and there to get cost down. The FF 14 bolts are cheaper for the brackets.

Both kits use 2500 4x4 rotors, and Eldorado calipers if you want the E-brake. You can use C20 calipers if you do not need or want the parking brake.

Mine is a semi floating 14 bolt. Thanks for the info. I have a good friend that works at Napa. Lol. I haven't decided on if I want or need the E brake yet. Is there axle shafts to convert theses to a 5x5 lug pattern? I've found 6 lug but not 5 lug.

Re: Rear disc brake conversion kit

The 454SS used them, but supposedly no one makes them anymore.

I am keeping my 14SF 8 lug, but I kept running across those threads when I was researching them.

Re: Rear disc brake conversion kit

So will 454SS axles interchange?? I'm not using it for a 4x4, otherwise I would leave it 8 lug. If I knew I could find matching 8 lug and 5 lug rims I would consider it. My shop told me I need this rear end to handle my engine.
