One Bad 406
This last Sunday I picked up a new toy. Its a 1978 Pontiac Grand Prix with a built 406. I know the guy that was selling it, hes had it since high school and built the engine himself. Was only asking 3k so I made an offer and he accepted. Originally bought it thinking I wanted to pull the engine and put it in my 84 K10......but the more I drive it the more I enjoy just having another muscle car. Car itself isn't really set up for that large of an engine and needs a few things. Its backed by a TH350 that needs some help. Body is super straight other then the bumper filler pieces needing replaced and the vinyl top being repaired or removed. Anyhow here are some pics of it. She definetely skoots, I can only imagine what she'll do after being set up properly.

Re: One Bad 406
Oh yeah! I LOVE small block 400s. I was building them back when nobody wanted them. There was a time when everyone convinced themselves that the 400 was prone to overheating due to the siamesed cylinders. I never had one overheat.
When a 400 is built with the right parts, you'll swear that there's a big block under the hood. They have torque like a small displacement big block, but it'll rev like a small block. It's kind of like having the best of both worlds. 427 BBC was that way, also. Now THAT was a great engine!
