need expert on brake hoses

I have a problem with my ft brake hoses on my 61k10. my wheel cyl's are 3/8-24 and my hoses are 7/16-20. I have some brass adapters, but they only catch a few threads. the wheel cyl's with 7/16-20 ports bolt on in a straight line as mine bolt one on top and the other side is at the bottom.

so have my lines custom made?

Kimble, I assume this an issue for the rear only? If I were you I would bend new 3/8" tube to match what you've got running along the rear axle and then get the appropriate 7/16-20 threaded double flare fitting made for 3/8" tube. You can buy the fittings from many places. I don't like to run adapters like that if I can avoid it. Just one more potential leak point.

Jason--these are the front. i think they changed in 64/64? I might have found some hoses, will post up if they work.

The easiest thing would probably be to get the wheel cylinders with the 7/16 ports. Look at the Dorman W14494 and W14493 on rockauto.com. They should work. I have a set of cylinders sitting in my basement with 3/8 ports. I figured out they were the wrong ones when I went to put the hoses on....

Max--they bolt on different. they changed in late 63 to the straight across bolt pattern. the hose that is listed for 60-62 is wrong as it is the later hose.

I see your problem. A brass adapter will probably not fit your wheel cylinder. I believe the cylinder has machine thread, not tube thread. Dorman lists a hose #H34466. It says it has a 3/8 male end one one side and a 5/8 male with 7/16 internal (should be the frame) side. Maybe that could work?

I ordered the hoses, can't remember where i got the org one's from. we will see? I used some hoses from a 63 ford 4x4 that are 3/8 on both ends and used some banjo bolts in 3/8. had to shorten them some and does work. no leaks. maybe my first hoses were wrong? thanks for the info Maxwoof--will post up what i find out.

H34466 are the same as my first ones 7/16-20 male. I guess if i change what i have i will have to have some made.

well i figured it out. I just drilled out the 3/8 threads, and re-taped to 7/16-20. used one of my old/new cyl's.
