While they may be a great company... my personal opinion is that paying $1750 for a 4.8L engine takeout and a harness is just way to high.

I don't even see what the upcharge is for the 4L60e transmission (just the engine comes with the 4.8l @ 1750) *EDIT The 4L60e is $1650 additional

For reference... I had $1800 total stuck into my 5.3L/4L60e, a brand new PSI harness, gas pedal, ECM, TAC mod, and all engine accessories... but I had to junkyard it myself.

Yours would be $1750 + 500 + 1650 (engine + accesorries + transmission)

$3900 for a 4.8L / 4L60e takeout is.... *up there*

$3900 will buy you a 6.0L/4L80e at a junkyard

Re: Tilden Motorsports Question

66LSx, thanks for the info.

I have a line on a pulled 4.8 from a 2007 Ryder truck for $150. I realize this will require a full strip down and rebuild. Do you have any thoughts on this?

Re: Tilden Motorsports Question

Why do you say it will need a full tear down and rebuild? How many miles are on it? Does it have any noticeable problems?

Re: Tilden Motorsports Question

Nobody sems to know much about it. I has been sitting in a tow yard for a while after they did a motor swap in the Ryder truck. Going to look at it with a friend tomorrow and see what's what.

go to car-part.com and use its search to find pullout engines at yards near you. You can peice together a combo really easy, and many yards will work with you if you buy stuff together. I got a sub-60k lq4 mostly complete and stored dry in a controlled warehouse for less than $800

Re: Tilden Motorsports Question

I was thinking about doing a 4.8L/4L60 or 5.3L/4L60 swap in my 72 Blazer. After looking at their site I wasn't clear on what I was getting for $1750 so I called. They said that the engine package includes a complete engine including accessories, a brand new harness that they make, and a pre flashed pcm. They also said they can customize the harness for my application. I asked about the transmission and was told that they that they sell a used 4L60 for $1000 or a new upgraded 4L60 for $1650. The new one being rated at 400+HP. Not planning on building big power so used will be the way to go for me. I was quoted $2800 for a 4.8L with used 4L60 all ready to go and a one year warranty. I like that all their engines are low mileage and they clean them up and test them before they sell them. I don't have the money yet but when I do that's the way I'm going.
