Side view mirror question
My 63 didn't come with a passengers door mirror. I want to buy one from LMC. My issues is that I am worried that just screwing the mirror to the door doesn't sound too solid. Is there a backing plate that belongs behind the door that those mirrors mount to?

Re: Side view mirror question
There are factory demples on back side. Use those to locate base. I used washers and nuts to hold in place.

Re: Side view mirror question
How's the view with the small mirror that far away.
I noticed most newer passenger side view mirrors give you more view. As in: 'objects in mirror are closer than they appear'

Re: Side view mirror question
The factory installed backing plates in both doors, but you will need nuts and lockwashers for the install on the pass side. Position is same as driver door, so make template off of it or take measurements from it and you'll be fine. Be sure to order the exterior gasket also.

Re: Side view mirror question
I used serrated flange nuts inside the door. This helps spread the load and also makes it easier to attach to the screws as there are no washers to fall inside the door. Also, I highly recommend the outside gaskets from LMC. They are molded with a ridge around the edge and last indefinitely. All others I'm aware of are cut from flat rubber stock.
