Truckandcarshop Window Sweeps--Too long?

Hey Folks~
As we all know, the good folks at the repro product manufacturers try hard, but sometimes don't bring their A game.

I went to install new window sweeps (this is the felt inner and rubber outer piece that runs horizontally next to your window). After pulling out the old one gently, I went to put in the one from truckandcarshop, and it is about a quarter inch too long.

Am I supposed to force this thing, or Can I safely trim these things to fit? Has anyone else had this problem? I could see where trimming would cause a problem in terms of holding them in place. At the same time, they are definitely not the same size as the original ones.

I have the same issue. So I haven't even pull the old ones. How do you replace them anyway. Do you have to remove stuff from the door or can you just roll the window down to replace them.

I have seen on past threads where owners have to trim the rubber right around the vent window

Thanks for the replies everyone. I will trim to fit.

In case anyone else searches and finds this: the old ones are not that hard to pull out, roll the window down all the way and just use a thin screwdriver and very gently and slowly work them out. Most of my old clips just broke and fell down the door anyway. We'll see how it goes customizing the new ones...

I used some metal shears on mine (not from truck and car shop), and a file to clean up any sharp edges after I cut them. Just be sure to look at where the clips line up before you cut. I had to cut different ends on driver and passenger sides.

I had bad luck with my window sweeps, not sure if they were from the truck shop but mine just fell apart

Re: Truckandcarshop Window Sweeps--Too long?

I had to trim mine also. I used a Dremel with a cut off wheel, worked like a charm. I also thought to myself why can't these parts be made to fit like the originals? It seems like most things that we buy for these trucks from the aftermarket don't fit like the originals.

It's frustrating, because none of this stuff is cheap!
