Is rear end limited slip? (Pics)
Please educate me on if this is a limited slip or just an open rear end.

Open diff. If you ever want to check without popping the cover off, spin the wheels and watch how they turn. If they turn in the same direction, you have a posi. If they turn in opposite directions you have an open diff.

Maybe if they rust up or the oil congeals or they bind somehow both will turn the same way. Don't know, but I know the wheel direction thing isn't perfect. On the other hand, if they spin opposite directions I guess you can assume its an open diff or a really worn posi.

Yet, the Gov-loc uses clutches just like a regular Eaton posi. They are just not preloaded with a spring.

Thanks guys. I'm getting smarter everyday. Now if I could just do something about retaining what I've learned....

Re: Is rear end limited slip? (Pics)
The EatonlLimited slip has a clutch pack and pressure springs between the spider gears. Yours is an open carrier.
