That is a lot of money for a standard radio. For that kind of money you can buy a radio to hide with remote and never worry about it.If the truck isn't a full on restoration I would buy a single din radio and install it.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Mike Hagan Radio ???

Look up Gary Tayman radio conversions. He takes stock am radios and converts them to am/fm radio with all new radio parts and guts and has iPod connection, Bluetooth, and it keeps the original am faceplate and all the original buttons and knobs and they work as original. He does am/fm radios too. I had a retro sound for 5 years and really didn't like it at all so I sent my am radio out and has it converted and I am amazed at how nice it is and how good the sound is and it's cheaper than Mike Hegans.

Re: Mike Hagan Radio ???

. . . .

I have one in my 70 C-10.

It has a good sound, considering it has just one speaker.

It takes a while to get used to the " touchy " tuning though.

I bought it because it looks just like the original AM/FM radios.

Mine was about the same price, three years ago too.

I haven't plugged in an Ipod yet, but it does have the capability.

Re: Mike Hagan Radio ???

I definitely don't want to cut my dash, I'm looking for something that will fit in the original location and be good quality. At minimum have am / fm and any modern extras would be a plus. Looking factory would be nice but not necessary. My trucks interior is all factory, but the truck over all is more of a resto-mod. Any other suggestion would be appreciated !

I'll Check out Gary Tayman, but I have no radio to send him to modify .

Gary

How much do they charge? That's what Mike Hagan has been doing for years (180w),and it's pricey. I only have experience with his conversions and they sound great! I'm not sure if Hagan isn't just a dealer for these radios or if he is making them. If he makes them and they are the same quality as his conversions then I wouldn't hesitate. Good stereos always cost more than crap. If someone gave me a Custom Autosound and offered to install it I'd turn them down. I'd rather spend twice as much and get what I'm after than half as much for disappointment

It is 385$ for him to convert and AM radio to AM/FM. From when you send it out to the day you get it back is a little under a month to have it all redone. You can also add Bluetooth for a little extra. Here is his website. http://www.garytayman.com/stereo.htm

Re: Mike Hagan Radio ???

I have one. I wanted a stock looking radio. The only complaint I have is, the buttons are square on the edges instead of rounded like the originals. Other than that. it looks like a brand new am/fm. But for the price, it shoild be exact... just sayin.

That sucker has been sitting in my shop for twenty years, came close to tossing it several times! You're welcome to it for the cost of shipping from Ca. Let me know if you want it!
I haven't found the knobs yet but I'll look some more in a bit. It came out of my 69 C10

Heading to my shop now so I'll look for the knobs again. I don't know where you are but I can't imagine it being more than $15 to ship. I'll check on the knobs and let you know this afternoon.

You got it! You can PM you full address and like I said I'll send it off tomorrow. You can send me a check once I find out the exact shipping. I'll send you an address. Hope it works out! One bummer, couldn't find the knobs, I know I have them but can't remember where! I'll continue to look, if I find them I'll send them off as well, if I find them later I'll send them later! Just do a nice for someone else down the road!

Re: Mike Hagan Radio ???

Make sure you pack that thing REALLY REALLY GOOD. Whenever I send radio's they always get damaged, wether its the cooling fins, knobs or whatever it always gets damaged, even with tons of packing material.

Re: Mike Hagan Radio ???

Older thread, but thanks! I just ordered a Mike Hagen am/fm for my 72. I agonized over it for months, but the price difference between rebuilt, incorrect and this one just isn't worth the heartache. I may order one for my 67 Chevelle if this works out like it sounds....and I have a few dead presidents lying around!
